NASA will equip the future astronauts of the Artemis 3 mission with a new backpack equipped with an instrument that will be very useful: a LIDAR.
NASA has named it the Kinematic Navigation And Cartography Knapsack; a funny name since it will now be referred to by the acronym... KNACK. Nothing to do with the sausages brand.
The KNACK will allow astronauts to find their way around while collecting a maximum of information about the Moon.
