Have you ever used a laser rangefinder? A laser range finder is a precision tool that is used to easily measure long distances, up to 250 meters. It works by using a laser, which, when projected on the end to be measured, sends a light beam back to the rangefinder. LIDAR is a very powerful rangefinder that can take hundreds of thousands of measurements per second.
The next time you go to a hardware store, don't forget to go through the rangefinder section!
