💡Do you know the difference between metro, train, tram and RER? Each of these means of transport has its own characteristics and uses, meeting the different mobility needs of travelers.
The #metro is an urban mass transit system, primarily underground, designed to serve densely populated areas of large cities.
The #train is a mode of rail transport that connects cities, regions or even entire countries. It is suitable for long journeys with more spaced stops. Trains can be regional (TER), intercity (TGV) or international (Eurostar).
The #tram is a means of public transport often used for urban or suburban journeys. It runs on rails integrated into the roadway or on reserved lanes, with frequent stops. It is usually on the surface.
The #RER, Réseau Express Régional, is a hybrid system between the metro and the train, particularly developed in Île-de-France. It crosses Paris and its suburbs, with less frequent stops than the metro but more than the train. The RER combines speed for long distances and accessibility for urban journeys.
